Congratulations!
One of our more mentally unhinged employees has managed to cycle from London to Paris in 24 hours. Done in 23 hours 55 mins David said that it was the hardest thing he has ever done and would recomend it to anyone! "Starting at Blackheath at half past 8 in the morning we set off at a fair pace towards Kent where we stopped after 38 miles to have some nurishment. We then carried on on the second leg to Dover, starting a lot easier but soon became aparent that this was a much more difficult stage climaxing at Dover hill, grunting all the way! This was thankfully followed by a long swift descent reaching speeds of over 40 mph even after the 90 miles done to get there! Carrying on from Calais after our hour and a half ferry ride at 8 oclock in the evening we cycled on to Doullen at about 25mph on the flat smooth roads of Paris, the French drivers were a lot friendlier than our Englsih counterparts who, admittedly, had not much choice but to give way to us seeing as we were over 150 strong! At Doullen we stopped for some food and water. This is was at about 10 oclock and we were about to start the adruous night riding. All the riders were very excited for their first taste of night riding and it was certainly an expierience! After 3 more stops at various points in the french countryside( most of which I have no idea where!) we were coming out of the night. Our last stop at Pontoise was only 19 miles away from the Eiffel tower and it was running very close to the 24 hour mark. Many people formed a fast moving peloton and shot into Paris at a hefty pace! Thankfully we made it in time! Reaching the Eiffel tower with a few minutes to spare for me and Rob and a few seconds spare for some! Unfortunately, as was going to be the case, a few injuries were sustained in France. One gentleman fell off and broke his cheek bone and collarbone and unfortunately had to leave the race, my riding parnter fell off but only sustained a few grazes on his left knee although by the way he was complaining you would have thought he had lost the use of his leg! Overall, all but one finished the race! If anyone would like to do the ride themselves next year the website check out the London to Paris 24 website.

The scope team under the Eiffel tower, all very tired!

It's Giant this year!
Here at Bob Trotter Cycles we believe that quality is everything! Which is why we're proud to stock every 2011 model from Giants' full suspension range.
Giant was established in 1972 and have been designing and manufacturing quality bikes ever since. In 2006 Giant introduced their patented and innovative "Maestro" suspension system, since then they have re-revised, developed and improved the system to produce what is now, arguably, the best suspension system in the world.
There's something for everyone in Giants' full suspension range, from light nimble XC/ trail bikes such as the Anthem right through to the DH shredding machine known as the Glory.
Giant Anthem

The Anthem is an excellent all round XC trail bike with 4" of rear suspension. With a rear air shock and the Maestro suspension system this bike climbs effortlessly with virtually no pedal bob at all. When it comes to descending this bike will fail to let you down, with excellent tracking the bike corners and descends the steepest lines with ease. This is a perfect XC race bike.
Technical specifications can be found on Giant's website.
The Anthem is also available in a 29" wheel version which has been a rising trend in XC riding, technical specifications can be found here.
Giant Trance
The trance is a similair bike to the anthem, with a little bit bit more attitude. The Trance is a 5" travel bike that boasts enhanced descending capabilities, with the 2011 model's head angle slackened to 69 degrees. The Trance aims to be a little more aggresive on the decents and because of this you might think it would struggle to climb as well as the Anthem, however, this isn't the case. The difference is negligable unless racing at a high level, this is all thanks to the Maestro suspension system. The only real difference comes in descending and stability. With the Maestro pivot plates positioned slightly higher on the seat tube to allow for the extra travel the bike also becomes a little more stable and can take a bit more abuse. A great trail bike that's very versatile in it's capabilities.
Giant Trance X1 technical specifications can be found on Giant's website.
Giant Reign

The Reign has got to be one of the most agressive XC/ All Mountain bikes availible. The bike has 6" of rear travel which does make the bike a little more difficut on the climbs. The Maestro suspension system is excellent for minimizing pedal bob, on a bike with 6" of rear wheel travel the bob isn't completely eliminated, but, is vastly reduced. The models further up the range come equipped with pro-pedal systems which almost completely eliminate pedal bob. The small amount of extra effort required on the climbs will fade from your mind when you set off down the first decent on your ride. The bike has a longer wheelbase which helps the bike descend the steepest terrain and track perfectly round those tight berms you'll find on any good trail. An all round fantastic bike that can be used for everything from long XC rides to full blown AM riding and even some light DH.
Find the Reign's full technical specifications here.
Giant Faith

An amazing 7" freeride bike, designed for hucking seriously big lines but it's also light and nimble enough to get tech in the air! The Faith is ridden by Kurt Sorge one of the worlds best freeriders! Casing jumps and drops or under rotating will feel like a thing of the past on this bike, it's that forgiving! Of course you'll still feel mistakes through the bike and you'll have to work to smooth out your trick list and get everything dialed 100% just with a lot less bailes on way!
Find the technical specifications here.
Giant Glory

The Glory is a thoroughbread down and out race bike. The glory 00 (which we have in stock) is the highest spec glory in production this year and comes equipped with top quality kit. The bike comes with a Fox DHX RC4 rear shock, Fox 40 RC2 front fork, Shimano Saint brakes, drive train and hubs laced on DT Swiss EX500 rims. With components like this you know this bike will never let you down. This bike is clearly made to shred and comes out of the box begging to be ridden. The Glory is undoubtedly one of the best bikes on the World Cup circuit. With Danny Hart placing second at Fort William this year, producing his best result to-date and giving Giant it's best result in 10 years. All this just after just signing with Giant says alot for the bike and with another four rounds of the DH World Cup left you're sure to see this bike on the podium again this year!
